Windhoek Consulting Engineers (PTY) Ltd has a vacancy for an Engineer: Earthworks, experienced in Rail and Rural Transport Engineering. The position is site-based.
 Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and design the railway alignment considering the project requirements, standards, and regulations.
- Ensure alignment design addresses earthworks, including cut and fill calculations, to achieve optimal track geometry.
- Plan and supervise earthworks activities related to railway construction and rehabilitation.
- Oversee excavation, embankment, and grading operations to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct/oversee geotechnical analysis to assess soil conditions and provide recommendations for earthworks.
- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers to mitigate potential risks related to slope stability, soil settlement, and foundation design.
- Manage and coordinate construction activities, including scheduling and resource allocation for earthworks.
- Ensure that construction processes adhere to project timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
- Implement and enforce quality assurance procedures for earthworks, ensuring materials and construction methods meet specified standards.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to earthworks in railway construction projects.
- Processing and management of associated reporting/documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- BSc Civil, B Eng Civil, or B Tech (Civil).
- At least 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in a similar environment.
- Experienced in Rural Roads & Railway type projects.
- Design and supervision of civil engineering- and building-type projects.
- Project life cycle project management skills.
- Fluent Caddie/Autocad and Civil Designer skills.
- Exceptional communication, report writing, and computer skills.
- Professional registration with ECN.
- Valid Driver’s License.
